From 80 contestants to one over all winner the competition was definitely high. Miss Universe is an annual international pageant that is ran by the Miss Universe Organization. As many have known it as "The Donald Trump" pageant this has been a recent change as of September when Mr. Tump chose to sell the pageant for an unknown number anywhere from 5 to 25 million dollars due to his political stance now running for the president in our current election. although this was a shock to many, this action does not take away any fame from the Pageant nor the increasable women that have worked so hard to get to this point.
As the competition narrowed its way down from 80 to 15 to 10 to 5 to the final 3 (USA, Colombia, Philippines) I sit and wonder what these girls are really competing for within their last question... "why should you be the next Miss Universe?" I watched as Miss USA took the first shot at the question and responded in the way that she would in power women, next Columbia stepped forward with her interpreter and expressed that she possesses all the attributes of a Colombia women and she wishes to share that with the world, and finally with Miss Philippines responding stating that even though pageants have the stereotypical idea of beauty that she believes beauty comes from the heart and if she would be crowned she would do all she could to show that to the world.
As a viewer and a competitor in pageants my favorite portion of the competition is evening gown. I believe the gown can say so much for a person not only on the shape but also personality and character. In my eyes I believe every gown should be chosen on the idea of what makes that person pop but I also take into consideration of what color represents what. In the pageant world many always say, "white wins!" I myself do see this trend that white dresses do better then color, but I believe this is because of the colors significance. White is associated with light, goodness, innocence, purity, and virginity. It is considered to be the color of perfection. White means safety, purity, and cleanliness. Surprisingly I found tonight that white just did not make the cut. although many made it to the top 10 I found that when it really came down to the crunch that many of them minus Miss USA were eliminated out of the final group. I guess this just goes to show that no mater what the color is more reflects on the ending resolution then just a gown.
With Miss Universe rapping up for 2015 I can not help but express my opinion on the Steve Harvey mistake. What happen happen and it can't be taken back. I feel bad for Miss Colombia and Miss Philippines for they were put in an extremely uncomfortable situation due to others mistakes but in the end I believe that Steve did do the right thing for owning up to his miss readings and correcting it while taking full blame. Both girls did an amazing job though when handling the situation and I don't believe no one acted out in an embarrassing way leaving both of them still with pride and dignity to walk off the stage winner or not. The life lesson here is things can pick you up as quickly as they can tear you down; as a person though this should not change your disposition for instead it should empower you and motivate you for next time but even more to be happy and thankful not only for the things that happen to you but also for the ones around you. If you look back on the clip when Miss USA was announced 2nd runner up she showed it in her face with how disappointed she was, but when the mistake happened and Colombia was announced the winner at first you could see that Miss Philippines still had joy in her heart for Miss Colombia and was truly happy for her win. Congratulation all 80 contestants in my eyes I believe that you all did wonderful and should be proud for how far you came and congratulations Philippines for being the 2015 Miss Universe!
